Important Update for Onshore Student Visa Applicants: CoE Now Mandatory
Onshore Students, start the year right by being guided and informed!
From 1 January 2025, individuals applying for a student visa while in Australia must provide a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) at the time of application. The Department of Home Affairs will no longer accept Letters of Offer for onshore Student visa applications.
Be guided with the below key points:
-
Applications without a CoE will be deemed invalid, preventing assessment and the issuance of Bridging visas.
-
This change ensures that both onshore and offshore applicants meet the same criteria for proof of intended study.
-
This change will only impact applications lodged on or after 1 January 2025.
The Department claims that this update aims to strengthen students’ commitment to their chosen institutions, providing greater assurance to Australia’s international education sector.
Therefore, if you intend to study but cannot secure a CoE before your existing visa expires, you must either leave Australia or consider other visa options.
