​South Australia (SA) occupies the southern central part of mainland Australia, sharing borders with all other mainland states and the Northern Territory.

The Northern Territory, situated at the northern tip of Australia, shares its borders with Western Australia to the west, South Australia to the south, and Queensland to the east. 

Tasmania (TAS), or “Tassie” to locals, is Australia’s smallest state. 

The Australian Capital Territory or ACT is a state within a state because it is located within New South Wales at approximately 180 miles south of Sydney. Its largest city, Canberra, is also the National Capital.
