Subclass 590
This visa is for parents or guardians of student visa holders under 18 years of age or who are over 18 years of age or older and who need care and support due to exceptional circumstances. This visa will allow them to provide care and support for the student. You are permitted to care for more than one student. However, you are not allowed to work. The length of your visa will be determined by the student visa holder’s duration of stay and their age.
To qualify for this visa you must:

Apply online from either within or outside Australia.

Be enrolled in a course of study in Australia.

Hold Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) or qualify for an exemption.

Be at least 6 years old.

Provide evidence of a welfare arrangement if you are under 18.

Hold an eligible substantive visa if you are applying from within Australia.
